Bueller?

Photo from Flickr.com

There are a select few parks we haven't heard any hints, news, or rumors about as of lately. Those being California's Great America, Carowinds, Valleyfair, Canada's Wonderland and Halloweekends. Nothing new coming for these parks, or are they just keeping new surprises quiet? We'll have to find out!

We'll just do a little background on those parks. California's Great America (CGA) added one new Haunted House last year called the Toy Factory. Sounds cool, but like we've mentioned in previous posts, with other companies and parks in CF doing that theme, we're on the fence about whether we're a fan of the theme. Oh well, it looked fun. Carowinds (Scarowinds rather) added 3 new Haunts last year. One Scare Zone called "The Playground" (cool concept/theme, we have to admit), one Outdoor Haunt called Camp Kilauee, and an Indoor Haunt named Silver Screen Sinema. At Valleyfair (Also known as Valleyscare), there were no new Haunts added, although it appears that a new show from Knott's called Fangs was added. At Canada's Wonderland (CW), two Indoor Mazes were added. The first being Club Blood (Generic CF vampire maze), and the second being a rather odd themed/named Haunt known as A Mid-Summer Night's Scream. Hmm. Not too sure about the theme . . . The last of the 2010 Haunts that we haven't heard from is Halloweekends at Cedar Point. They added two Haunted Mazes last year, one being Happy Jack's Toy Factory which replaced the Pharaoh's Secret maze in Disaster Transport, and the other Indoor Maze that was added was called G.A. Boeckling's Eerie Estate, located in an admissions building of some sort.

Well that just about wraps up the news, or lack of news rather for today. Just remember, if you have anything to submit, feel free to share!

Cedar Fair: Overlord Returning for 2010

Photo from Monsterspace.org

By the looks of various sites across the internet, the Overlord will be implemented even more this year across the various Cedar Fair Haunts. He arose every night from all of the parks across the chain to make a viscous speech telling all of his ghouls, goblins, and demons to reek havoc on all of the innocent souls of that park. We here at CFHN are really excited to see what happens this year across the US with the Overlord! What did you think of the Overlord last season?

Knott's Berry Farm: Pyromaniax Gone for 2010

Photo from Micechat.com

It's been semi-confirmed on the popular Knott's Haunt fansite Theme Park Adventure that Pyromaniax will not be returning for the 2010 season. Pyromaniax was added in 2007 and was located in the Timber Mountain Log Ride. The ride was mainly themed around a fire outbreak at a moonshine factory. It looks like a half-decent Haunt judging by the various Youtube videos of Pyromaniax, but with its removal for the 2010 season, what will replace it? Knott's has had a Log Ride Haunt ever since 1987 with themes such as Santa Claws, Toxic Terror, and Red Moon Massacre. Will the Log Ride return with a brand new theme this year or will this be the first year where it isn't utilized for a Haunt? Only time will tell!

Knott's Berry Farm: Fallout Shelter

According to the Knott's Haunt Fansite Theme Park Adventure (and everyone else who went to the West Coast Bash Event at Six Flags Magic Mountain & Knott's), Knott's announced today that they are adding Fallout Shelter - Toxic Terrors Abound. Taking place of Alien Annihilation, this maze will be themed to a toxic, bio hazardous fallout shelter. Also reported by TPA, this maze will feature water gags.

We think this maze sounds great! We're really digging the theme. Can't wait for Knott's Twitter's Haunt Goodness coming later this year! What do you think of this new maze?

Themes Themes Themes

Photo from UltimateHaunt.com

Various themes have been adopted by not just Cedar Fair parks, but through out Haunts all around the World. Last year, Cedar Fair added a total of 24 (we're not 100% certain, but that's the approximate number) new Haunts. Here's the official list:
-G.A. Boeckling's Eerie Estate
-Happy Jack's Toy Factory
-Asylum
-3-D Psycho Circus
-Backwoods
-Death Trap
-Gauntlet
-Pirates Passage
-Medieval Macabre
-Slaughter House
-Lockdown: The Asylum
-Terror of London
-Dia De Los Muertos in 3D
-Uncle Bobo's Big Top of the Bizarre in 3D
-Club Blood
-A Midsummer Night's Scream
-Toy Factory
-Club Blood
-Slaughter House
-Cut Throat Cove
-Camp Killauee
-Silver Screen Sinema
-The Playground

Overall, that's a fairly large amount of Haunts added. There are a few themes that stand out to us as horrifying and extremely innovative. The Playground Scare Zone at Carowinds sounded like a creepy and innovative theme, and with how many different large objects you can find at a playground, I'm sure there were plenty of walkway objects to hide behind & walk around. Another great one in our eyes is the Midsummer Night's Scream Haunted Maze at Canada's Wonderland. We have no idea how it delivered or if it was even scary, but we love the concept! Death Trap at Dorney Park brought in the whole "SAW" type of theme and put a CF twist on it. With that sick kinda twisted concept, what Haunt fanatic wouldn't want to walk through it!

There were a few medieval theme Haunts across the chain. Knott's already had the Gauntlet Scare Zone, but on top of that, Kings Dominion added a Medieval Macabre Haunted Maze, and Dorney Park put its own twist on the Gauntlet Scare Zone. There was a presence of Toy Factory mazes not only across the Cedar Fair chain, but across the Haunt Industry. Busch Gardens in Tampa (Howl-O-Scream Event) added a Toy Factory to their lineup. Total, Cedar Fair added 2 Toy Factory's across the chain. Happy Jack's Toy Factory at Cedar Point & the Toy Factory at California's Great America. After watching walk-throughs of both Haunts on Youtube, we here at CFHauntNews think that these Toy Factory Haunts aren't only twisted, but extremely detailed and overall VERY well done.

What themes do you all think will be thrown into the variety of Haunts this Fall when the Cedar Fair Halloween Haunts (and Halloweekends) premier? Leave us a comment below about what you think!

Car Ride Haunts

Photo from OhioThemeParks

Back in 2003, Kings Island in Ohio added a Haunted Attraction called Route 666, a car ride Haunt that let guests drive through various scenes. According to a couple different sites that we've looked at the waits got fairly long for this attraction, leading up to 3+ hour lines. Route 666 didn't return after the 2003 due to the removal of the autos ride and the addition of the Italian Job ride.

Another car ride that took place at a Haunt was called Scary Oldies at Geauga Lake. According to a few reviews it was one of the scariest attractions at the park. The other one that is currently (as of last year) in existence is called Blue Ridge Bloodbath and is located at Kings Dominion in Virginia.

These types of car ride Haunts feature various scenes and distractions. We personally think that these kinds of Haunts are great & we can't wait to see if Cedar Fair starts to use more of their attractions during the Halloween Haunt events in the Fall.

Kings Island: Trains and Trails

Photo from Kicentral.com
This is just throwing thoughts out here, we haven't heard anything from anyone, but I think it's time to focus on Kings Island in Ohio. Now we're labeling this as a rumor only because it's simple logic (same case as the previous post regarding Quarantine at Knotts), but we have a couple guesses or predictions about future Haunts for KI, mainly regarding Tombstone Terrortory and Trail of Terror.
Now Tombstone Terrortory (Train Haunt) was added in 2005, originally named Headless Hallow during Fear Fest. Trail of Terror was added back in 2001, and from 2003 through the Paramount acquisition was named Psycho Path, post Paramount known as Trail of Terror.

For the third time this is pure guessing, nothing reported or even rumored, but could some of the outdoor Haunts at KI be due for some change? With camp haunts being added to Haunt lineups similar to how last year Backwoods was added to Dorney Park, could Trail of Terror be replaced with some sort of Camp Haunt? Who knows.

Cedar Fair (as of last year) isn't too big on Train Haunts, seeing as if we remember right, Tombstone Terrortory was the only one (Seeing as Calico at Knotts is more of a Mine Ride), could we see the possible demise of Train Haunts? Or will they become the new rage and could we see train rides at the various Cedar Fair parks across the country be used as Haunts in the future? Only time will tell.

Knott's Berry Farm: Quarantine to be Quarantined for 2010?

According to fellow Haunt lover KnottsScaryFarmRuler on Youtube, Quarantine isn't going to be returning to the Knott's Haunt Lineup for the 2010 event. The logic behind this rumor? Well, the Grudge 2 only stayed for 2 years, and the only way that it would be able to stay is if they renamed it or diverted the name/theme away from the movie. Yes, Quarantine was a half-decent movie, but we don't think that that means that it deserves a place in the Knott's lineup 3 years AFTER the release of the movie.

Will Quarantine return this year, or is KSFRuler right & will it be replaced for the 2010 season. And if it is replaced, what will it be replaced with?

Uh oh!

While reading comments from this blog and brushing up on Haunt news and information , we came across a post on Dorney Park's Facebook regarding a previous post and how it "Upset the overlord". Just to clarify (and so we don't get in trouble), we aren't trying to really upset anyone and as of now, all posts on this site are labeled as RUMORS and won't be labeled as confirmed until . . . well until the Haunts are listed as each site.

We here at CFHauntNews are trying to provide the latest news and rumors for those who follow the Haunt industry as well as Cedar Fair parks. Our intent isn't to release information before it has been announced, it's just to pass along cool little information bits that draw interest to those who follow the Haunt industry like we do!

With all of that said, we come in peace & with all the political and legal mumbojumbo stuff that's going on these days, we really don't want to cause any trouble. If there's inaccurate information found on this site that you would like removed or at least altered, FEEL FREE to contact us via the comment box/link below! Even if it's a comment saying "Get that piece off of libelous slander off of your site immediately!", we respect our viewers and will most likely comply with our readers demands. Sorry for any trouble caused!

Knott's Berry Farm: Necropolis - City of the Dead

Knott's announced once again via Twitter that the Gauntlet is being replaced with Necropolis - City of the Dead this Fall at the Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt. Pictured above, this new Scare Zone will feature "Steampunk Vampires" in a city (Necropolis) of bloodthirsty vampires that can't wait to harvest upon your soul(s).

Mentioned in the previous Knott's post, many fans, employees, and followers of the Haunt (Knott's in particular) are upset about this change, and aren't quite ready to welcome in the Necropolis. How do you think this city will deliver? Will it be an outstanding replacement for the Gauntlet, or will it fail miserably and forever be known as "that one scare zone with a bunch of Edward Cullen mechanical mixups running around"? We'll have to wait & see!

Dorney Park: Feary Tales for 2010?

Photo from Themeparkadventure.com

In a fearful new rumor, word has it that Dorney Park is going to add a Feary Tales themed Scare Zone. We're not entirely sure about any other details, like whether it'll be named Feary Tales or whether it'll just be themed to that, but if said rumor becomes true, it would be really spooky to see!

Knott's Scary Farm put on a great Haunt entitled "Feary Tales" back in the day, and by back in the day, I'm referring to 2005-2007. Here at CFHN Headquarters are still trying to think up how a Feary Tales theme could be fit into a Scare Zone. Any ideas? Send 'em in using the comment button/link below!

Kings Dominion: KCC Transformation?

Photo from Flickr.com

A rumor has been posted over at Kdfansite about their 2010 Halloween Haunt. There's not much to this proposed Haunt location, but what employees have been hearing is that the Kidz Construction Company (pictured above) is set to become a Haunted maze for the 2010 season. We don't know anything else about this rumor or location, so once we hear or receive more info, we'll pass it on!

Worlds of Fun: Replacement Haunts

Photo from CoasterCommunity.com

It has been hinted on a few different coaster sites across the internet that a couple Haunts at WOF are going to be replaced, those two haunts being Camp GonnaGitcha (added in 2004) and Dominion of Doom (added in 2005). Although word on what they will be replaced with isn't quite clear, what we're hearing is a farm themed outdoor walkthrough replacement (similar to a Cornstalkers style Haunt) for Camp, and a Terror of London themed Scare Zone (similar to Knott's Scary Farms' Terror of London in 09 which was a Maze) for Dominion of Doom.

It should be interesting to hear how the farm Haunt is. With the woods playing a major factor in the location of the maze, it could have a really crazy atmosphere! Can't wait to hear reviews.

Knott's Berry Farm: Goodbye to the Gauntlet?

Photo from Flickr.com

Knott's Berry Farm happens to be one of the few Cedar Fair parks that is overly active with their Twitter account. Releasing details one tweet at a time, it was announced last month that the famous Scare Zone known as the Gauntlet (CS Streets) is going to be replaced with a gothic steampunk themed Scare Zone.

Many fans and CS Streets Employees were upset with the news and due to media portrayals of Vampires in recent years (Twilight mainly), there was a widespread panic including the all so common fear of having sparkly, unscary vampires roaming the streets of the Halloween Haunt at Knott's Scary Farm.

Will the new scare zone deliver and put on a good enough performance to outdo the Gauntlet?

Dorney Park: Hotel Haunt?

Revealed on February 18th, this blueprint sketch shows an absolutely ENORMOUS Haunt planned for Dorney Park. After closer examination, the folks over at Dorney Park Online have discovered that this Haunt seems to be themed to a hotel. A bit of information was posted by someone on Facebook regarding the location:
"It looks like the entrance is going to face the groves, there's a concrete path which goes down the hill to the other groves between the two upper groves to be used for this new indoor haunt."

For now, since nothing has been announced by the park, this will be labeled as a Rumor.
This will be the first Hotel themed Haunt in the Cedar Fair chain? How do you think it will be executed?
