Cedar Point: Undertaker is Out

Photo from Pointbuzz.com

While browsing over at Pointbuzz, a popular Cedar Point fansite, we noticed that in a 2010 Halloweekends thread that according to someone at the park (and later confirmed with this photo), an Asylum will be added to Halloweekends at Cedar Point for the 2010 season, replacing Undertaker U which is located in the back of the park inside some sort of old Carousel building.
We are very excited to see Cedar Point's twist on this classic Haunt theme!

Worlds of Fun: Terror of London Scare Zone

Photo from Creepyla.com

With the rumor that Worlds of Fun might possibly be adding a Terror of London themed scare zone, that got us thinking. How do you theme a scare zone to Terror of London? Well a viewer asked us that same question and we're going to take a stab in the dark at how we would theme it.

If you take a look at the photo above from Creepyla.com, you'll see the final scene in the Terror of London maze at Knott's from this past 2009 Haunt Season. The last scene depicted a graveyard, some sort of dock, and a LOT of brickwork. Overall, having been through the Terror of London maze, it was an absolutely breathtaking scene. The details all around were fantastic and the scares were top notch.

Now making this into a scare zone, although difficult, is possible. In most scare zones there are objects or set pieces that break up the path so guests have to avoid objects. These objects also provide hiding places for the actors and actresses in the zone. In a Terror of London themed scare zone, we would most likely place some brick walls along the path, along with a lot of tombstones, a couple of eerie London-style streetlamps, as well as maybe a storefront or two (in a facade type of manner). This in our eyes would make for one hell of a zone.

If you could design a scare zone, what would you put in it and what would you theme it to?

Cedar Fair: Factories-A-Plenty

It seems that a reoccurring theme (no pun intended) in the rumors that we have been receiving is that various parks have, or are adding factory themed Haunts this year. All current factory themed Haunts at Cedar Fair parks thus far are indoor mazes, and the rumors we've received about two Cedar Fair parks that might be adding factories of some sort this year (one ex-Paramount park and one original Cedar Fair park) have rumored that they will be indoors as well.

There are numerous types of factories out on the Haunt Market right now, but the two main ones seem to be doll and toy factories. What does everyone think of these factory themes at Cedar Fair Haunts?

Dorney Park: New Haunt Photos

Dorney Park has posted photos of construction going on for their new Haunted Maze entitled: Mansion House Hotel. To check out the photos, head on over to the Haunt's Facebook Page and then click on the photos tab. Looks like this will be one big maze!

It is quite crazy that some parks are already beginning to start the construction process for their Haunts. Not a bad thing at all in our eyes! Can't wait to see how this maze shapes up. When does your local Cedar Fair park start Haunt Construction?

Valleyfair: Clowns Are Out Of Town?

Photo from Haunt World Magazine

After paroozing around various Haunt Facebook Groups, I stumbled upon talk of Valleyfair's Halloween Haunt and how CarnEvil is being replaced for the 2010 season. Couldn't find any word on the theme, so we will label this as a rumor for now, but for 2010, the clowns are no longer in town at Valleyscare.

Knott's Berry Farm: Movie Theater Haunt

While looking around on Monsterspace.org, we noticed that in a certain thread in the Forum, someone discussed that on a Knott's Berry Farm Haunt Designer's Twitter Account, the person posted that they just finished drafting the facade for a Movie Theater Haunt.

Scarowinds happened to have a Movie Theater Haunt last year by the name of Silver Screen Sinema, but unfortunately we haven't heard any reports as to how the Haunt experience actually was. We did, although, find this on ThemeParkReview, a popular Roller Coaster website:

"This is a returning maze, just under a different name. It used to be Dreamfactory. I have always liked this maze and regard it as one of the "classics" here. It has been updated with some pretty cool new special effects including a movie theater where the Scaractors watch you walking through the maze."

We cannot wait to hear about this new Movie Theater Haunt premiering at Knott's this fall! What do you you all think about the theme?
